PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fire extinguishing device for a refuse collecting vehicle in which, even if a refuse storage chamber is opened and the refuse is taken out in order to prevent a secondary fire due to heat-storing refuse in the occurrence of fire, the refuse does not catch fire again, and thereby the amount of chemicals for use in extinguishing the fire can be reduced.SOLUTION: A fire extinguishing device for a refuse collecting vehicle includes: at least two kinds of detectors among a smoke detector 3, a heat detector 4 an a gas detector; an inert gas fire extinguisher and a reinforced liquid fire extinguisher 6; an inert gas ejection nozzle 52 connected with the inert gas fire extinguisher by a first piping tube and positioned inside a refuse storage chamber 1; a reinforced liquid spray nozzle 52 connected to the reinforced liquid fire extinguisher 6 through the second piping tube and positioned inside the refuse storage chamber 1; and a control device 7 for controlling the ejection of inert gas and the spraying of the reinforced liquid. At least two kinds detectors detect fire in the refuse storage chamber 1, and thereby the inert gas is ejected by the control device 7 into the refuse storage chamber 1 for a predetermined time and then the reinforced liquid is sprayed into the refuse storage chamber.
