To propose a nozzle arrangement having a high fire extinguishing effect, and suitable conditions for water mist in a fire extinguishing method for pool fire by the water mist.
In this fire extinguishing method for pool fire by water mist, at least a pair of nozzles which can jet in the mutual directions at counter positions across the center of the combustion surface of a fuel container are installed on the side of the combustion surface. By simultaneously jetting the water mist from the nozzles, a fire is extinguished. The height of the nozzle center is preferably the same as the height of the peripheral rim upper end of the fuel container, or lower than the height. The jetted water mist preferably has an average flow rate in a range from 0 to 0.40 m/s at the flame base section of the peripheral rim end of the fuel container. The rate of the volume at which a particle of the water mist evaporates while passing through a flame zone is preferably higher than 80%.
