To reduce the consumption of water for a fire extinguishing system with which a fire is extinguished by discharging the atomized stream of water particles toward a fire source.
Water 28 discharged from a high-pressure reciprocative pump 42 is stored in an accumulator 56. When accumulator pressure reaches a prescribed value, a solenoid opening/closing valve 62 is turned to an opening position just for set time, and high-pressure water 28 in the accumulator 56 is supplied to a discharging device 16. The discharging device 16 generates an atomized current 86 of water particles from the water 28 intermittently supplied from the accumulator 56 and the atomized current 84 is intermittently discharged from the discharging device 16 toward a fire source 86.
