Title:
FIRE-RESISTANT SEALING MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH08253761
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a fire-resistant sealing material improved in heat, fire and water resistances by mixing a resin with melamine-coated ammonium polyphosphate and/or insoluble ammonium polyphosphate.

CONSTITUTION: Part of the ammonium groups are removed from powdery ammonium polyphosphate by heating it at 300°C or below for 0.5-5hr to obtain ammonium polyphosphate having a combined ammonia content equal to or smaller than the stoichiometrical content. The ammonium polyphosphate and melamine are heated under agitation to 250-300°C to obtain melamine-coated ammonium polyphosphate (A). The active hydrogen atoms of the amino groups of melamine molecules of component A are reacted with a compound having a functional group reactive with the active hydrogen atoms at 80-200°C to obtain insoluble ammonium polyphosphate (B). 10-200 pts.wt. components A and/or B is added to 100 pts.wt. resin.
