PURPOSE: To ensure safety without generation of harmful halogen gas at the time of combustion by enabling only one type of tape to have both fire-resistant and water stopping characteristics, realize economization and the non- metallization of a waterproof optical fiber cable, and have antibacterial properties.

CONSTITUTION: One or both sides of a base material 5 comprising, for example, cellulosic fabric cloth or non-woven cloth sheet are applied with a water absorbing resin composite containing a fire-resistant resin composite 7 essentially composed of a synthetic organic binder 3 and non-halogen or more preferably phosphorus fire-resistant agent 6, and at least one side is applied a water absorbing resin composite 4 essentially composed of a synthetic organic binder 3 and water absorbing resin 2. A fire-resistant water stopping tape for a cable is thereby obtained.
