To provide a fire-retardant chaff composite board being a new product, which sufficiently puts high heat retaining properties, corrosion resistance and lightweight properties possessed by chaff and an advantage such that chaff is left over in large quantities to practical use and uses a binding material based on an inorganic compound or an inorganic compound imparting water resistance and chaff as main raw materials in order to eliminate the point at issue not having a defect easy to burn or water resistance possessed by a conventional chaff board or a problem having anxiety in strength, and capable of being realized by a simple process, and a method for manufacturing the same.
The fire-retardant chaff composite board can be provided by a manufacturing method wherein a thin sheet material 20 is arranged in a retaining mold 10 having a predetermined dimension, a chaff/inorganic composition kneaded material 30, which is prepared by kneading 50 pts.wt. of an inorganic aqueous solidifying composition with 100 pts.wt. of chaff, is put in the retaining mold 10 to form the chaff/inorganic composition kneaded material 30 on the thin sheet material 20 in uniform thickness and compressed to be reduced to 70% in its volume, the inorganic aqueous solidifying composition is solidified by heating and drying the kneaded matter 30 and the compressed solidified matter is taken out and dried to provide the fire-retardant chaff composite board wherein the thin sheet material 20 and a chaff compressed solidified matter 60 are integrated.
