Abstract:
To provide ACPI (advanced configuration and power interface) firmware for an IA-64 instruction set processor.
A firmware interface table (FIT) of an IA-64 instruction set is used to populate hardware component name space using SSDT data. The SSDT data describes components in a system. All of hardware components are discovered at the time of booting up. An ACPI subsystem in system firmware consumes data setting, loads an SSDT from the FIT, and prepares name space for an active system component. There is one FIT type indicating an SSDT entry, and a subtype is indicated by using a FIT version field.
