Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of cracks by fatigue by a method in which a steel strip late is welded to the main structure in such a way as to extend it in the longitudinal direction of the main structure and incidental facilities are welded to the upside of the steel strip plate.
CONSTITUTION: A steel strip plate 8 is welded in such a way as to extend it in the longitudinal direction of the horizontal brace 1 or vertical brace 4 of a marine structure. An electric corrosion preventer 3 is welded to the upside of the late 8. The generation of fatigue cracks in the braces 1 and 4 can thus be prevented since the weld crossing the direction of stress can be eliminated.
