PURPOSE: To fit the antenna to a car body, by ensuring the linking among a cord, driving drum and element assembly and making stable the assembly for the flexibility, through the insertion of the driving cord to the fitting section when it is protected with an external cylinder.

CONSTITUTION: When an assembly 2 is extended and drawn to the outside of an external cylinder 3, a driving cord 8 is drawn in the cylinders 3, 5, and further drawing-out is prevented with a tentative fastening tape of a connecting metallic fixture 7. With this state, the cord is inserted to a pillar 17 through a fitting hole 18a and a base 4 is fixed to a roof 18. The assembly 2 is shortened by removing the tape and the cord 8 is projected, a coupler 9 is inserted from a cylinder 14 of an expansion and contraction mechanism 10 and brought into contact with the external circumference of a driving drum 12, the cord 18 is linked to the drum 12 by detaining a coupler 9 with a motor 11, and after winding the cord 8 further by pushing the cylinder 5 into the cylinder 3, the cylinder 5 is drawn out from the cylinder 3, the metallic fixture 7 is inserted to a cylinder 14 and the cylinder 5 is linked. With this constitution, the linking of the assembly is sure and expansion and contraction operation can also be made stable.
