PURPOSE: To fit a windshield glass quickly and accurately by eliminating the necessity for a large fitting jig through such an arrangement wherein the windshield glass is fitted as it is guided by spacers to the guide part and positioning part provided in a cowl outer panel.

CONSTITUTION: A windshield glass 10 is equipped with 2 pieces of spacer 20 in advance each of which is formed into a block-like shape. By inserting the lower end of the windshield glass 10 into a recess formed at part of the spacer 20, both spacer and the glass can be integrally fitted. The surface of the spacer 20 at its end, facing to a cowl outer panel 14, composes a guide surface which is used when the windshield glass 10 is inserted into an opening for inserting the windshield glass and it is able to slide on a sloped surface formed on the cowl outer panel 14. When the spacer 20 slides into a hole 28 for positioning, the glass 10 is caused to set in a front opening and the positioning of the glass 10 is accomplished.
