To provide a fixed guide for an engine which can maintain a stable chain track by a slide-contact curved surface having a predetermined curvature along the longitudinal direction of the guide without an increase in the plate thickness of a base plate, and which can exhibit excellent durability by preventing the base plate from being bent in the longitudinal direction of the guide and by preventing breakage easy to be caused at fitting positions of engine fitting bolts even if receiving an excessive pressing load from a transmission chain.
This fixed guide 100 for an engine includes a reinforcing narrow groove part 122 formed along the longitudinal direction of the guide in the base plate 120 by surface-pressing, whereby the compression stress is applied to a plate back surface of the base plate 120 by a surface-pressing tool and the base plate exhibits plastic deformation, and extending toward each base end part in the longitudinal direction of the guide, exceeding the fitting positions of the engine fitting bolts provided in the base plate 120.
