To provide a fixing apparatus capable of enhancing the durability of a peeling member and also improving the image quality of a fixed image, and to provide an image forming apparatus.

The fixing apparatus 90 includes a fixing roller 91 and a pressing roller 92 which are rotated in pressurized contact with each other. A toner image T is fixed to a recording material P by heating and pressing a recording medium P while the recording medium P carrying the toner image T is passed through. The fixing apparatus includes the peeling members 95 and 97 which are in contact with or in the vicinity of the fixing roller 91 and peeling off the recording medium P which passed between the fixing roller 91 and the pressing roller 92 from the fixing roller 91. The peeling members 95 and 97 include base material and a surface layer provided on a front surface side of the base material. At least one part of the surface layer is composed of a material containing fluorinated polyether-based high polymer.
