Abstract:
To reduce the number of ultrafine particles emitted due to heating of a fixing member.SOLUTION: A fixing device 13 of a printer comprises: a fixing member 20 that heats a toner image formed on a sheet by using a heat source 27; and a pressure member 21 that is arranged in contact with the fixing member 20 and applies pressure to a sheet passing through between the fixing member 20 and the pressure member. The fixing device 13 performs a preliminary operation, before the fixing member 20 and pressure member 21 perform fixing processing and during heating of the fixing member 20 to the predetermined fixing target temperature, for heating the fixing member 20 with two or more stages of preliminary operation temperatures lower than the fixing target temperature until respective predetermined preliminary operation times pass while controlling the heating to the fixing target temperature.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
