Abstract:

To suppress occurrence of temperature unevenness when a fixing belt, etc. is warmed up.

In this fixing device, when the fixing belt 61 is warmed up, the fixing belt 61 is driven and heated by induction at a state that a pressure roll 62 is separated from the fixing belt 61. In addition, when fixing is performed, the fixing belt 61 is driven and heated by induction, the pressure roll 62 is pressure contacted to the fixing belt 61 to form a fixing nip part and paper which carries an unfixed toner image is inserted into the fixing nip part. Furthermore, when standby is performed after fixing, drive and induction heating of the fixing belt 61 are stopped, the pressure roll 62 is slightly separated from the fixing belt 61 and brought into contact with the fixing belt 61 so that the cross-sectional shape of the fixing belt 61 becomes approximately circular.
