Abstract:
A fixturing apparatus (2) is described that can be used with metrology apparatus (100), such as coordinate measuring machines, flexible gauges and the like. The fixturing apparatus (2) comprises a base (4) and a plurality of supports extending from the base that are configured to retain an object (70). At least one of the plurality of supports comprises a floating support (30,32,34) comprising a floating support element (40,50,60) that is moveable relative to the base (4) upon contact with an object (70) being loaded into the fixture. A locking mechanism (44,54,64), such as a pneumatic locking mechanism, is provided that can be actuated to immobilise each floating support element (30,32,34) relative to the base (4). The object (70) may comprise a glass sheet. A corresponding method of fixturing an object is also described.
