Abstract:
An anchoring member for a polyaxial bone anchoring device is provided, the anchoring member including a bone anchoring section (2) having a first end (21), a second end (22), and a bone engagement structure on at least a portion thereof, a head (3), the head having an outer surface portion (31) that defines a portion of a sphere (S), a central axis (C) extending through respective centers of the head (3) and the first and second ends of the bone anchoring section and a neck (23) between the first end (21) of the bone anchoring section (2) and the head (3), the neck (23) including a first portion (24) that is closer to the head (3) than to the bone anchoring section (2), wherein in at least one plane (P) including the central axis (C), the first portion (24) of the neck (24) is concave with a first curvature, the neck (23) further including a second portion (25) between the first portion (24) and the bone anchoring section (2), wherein in the at least one plane (P), the second portion (25) is concave with a second curvature that is smaller than the first curvature.
