PURPOSE: To stabilize fixing and to miniaturize a device by performing the fixing processing of a recording image part at least twice by a fixing part after developing and transferring to recording paper by an image carrier.
CONSTITUTION: A fixing roller 59 where 'Teflon(R)' coating is performed on the cylinder of a magnetic member is mounted in the fixing part 34 as a fixing body, and bearing parts are provided at both ends of a rotary shaft 60. The fixing roller 59, a recording drum 51 and a developing roller 56 are rotated synchronizing with the movement of a carriage 32 by a process motor. The fixing roller 59 performs fixing by rotating on the recording paper 40 both on a go-way and a return-way when the carriage 32 moves in a perpendicular direction to the carrying direction of the recording paper 40. In this case, the temperature of the fixing roller 59 is set to make the temperature of the return- way lower than that of the go-way, and it is set to make the temperature of the go-way lower than the temperature for the conventional case that fixing is performed only on the go-way. Thus, adverse effect on the recording drum 51 caused by the heat generation of a process part 33 is evaded.
