Abstract:
PURPOSE:To rapidly and securely fix a reinforcing material and a ferrule by screwing a housing cover to a housing body and crimping the reinforcing material of an optical fiber cable by a retaining member and the flange part of the ferrule. CONSTITUTION:A retaining ring 35 is formed to an annular shape and is mounted to the state of enclosing the shaft part 47 of the ferrule 31, by which the ring is opposed to the end face of the flange part 48. The front end 44 side of such ferrule 31 is inserted into the through-hole 64 of the housing body 33. The retaining ring 35 is pressed by the bottom 70 of the housing cover 34 and the reinforcing material 41 is crimped by the flange part 48 and the retaining ring 35 when the housing cover 34 is increasing screwed down to the housing body 33. The reinforcing material 41 is, therefore, fixed to the ferrule 31 by the simple operation involving screwing of the cover 34 to the housing body 33. The possibility that the reinforcing material disengages from the ferrule 31 is obviated even if tensile force acts on the optical fiber cable 30 from the outside.
