Title:
FLAME-RESISTANT POLYESTER FIBER STRUCTURE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6253415
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the titled product composed mainly of polyethylene terephthalate, containing a phosphoric compound and boron compound at specific respective ratios, having high melt-dripping tendency, resistant to ignition when contacted with flame and free from the deterioration of the physical properties and spinnability.

CONSTITUTION: A polyester fiber structure composed mainly of polyethylene terephthalate is added with 1W10mol% phosphorus compound (in terms of P atom based on the constitution unit of the polyester) and 0.5W5mol% boron compound (e.g. orthoboric acid) (in terms of B atom) to obtain the objective product. The phosphorus compound is preferably the one obtained by the thermal reaction of 9,10-dihydro-9-oxa-10phosphaphenonthrene-10-oxide with a quinone compound in a solvent. The phosphorus compound is preferably mixed or copolymerized in the polyester and the boron compound is added preferably in the synthesis of the polyester.
