Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the title compsn. which is inexpensive, does not have flame spread and has excellent flow characteristics, adherability and water resistance as well as excellent flame retardance, by blending Al(OH)3, fibrous Mg2SiO4 and a silica compd. with petroleum asphalt and/or natural asphalt.

CONSTITUTION: 50W10% mixture of Al(OH)3, fibrous Mg2SiO4 and a silica compd. is blended with 50W90% petroleum asphalt and/or natural asphalt to obtain the title compsn. which neither catch fire at 600°C, nor has flame spread, through it has an oxygen index of 26W27 and a softening point of 100°C or below.
