To obtain electric wire and cable having an excellent flame retardancy, good mechanical strength, heat resistance, low-temp. properties, flexibility and processability, and free from generating toxic gas by blending a resin component comprising (A) an ethylene resin, (B) an ethylene/α-olefin copolymer and (C) an ethylene resin modified with a functional group-contg. compd. with (D) an inorg. flame retardant and (E) a silicone oil.
A hundred pts.wt. resin component comprising (A) 40-93wt.% ethylene resin selected from among ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymers, ethylene/ ethyl acrylate copolymers and linear ultralow-density ethylene/α-olefin copolymers, (B) 50-5wt.% ethylene/α-olefin copolymer of 0.5 to 50g/10min in melt flow rate, 0.86 to 0.91g/cm3 in density and at most 3.0 in wt.-average mol. wt./no.-average mol.wt. and (C) 40-2wt.% ethylene resin modified with a functional group-contg. compd. is blended with (D) 50-150 pts.wt. inorg. flame retardant (e.g. antimony freioxide) and (E) 0.05-10 pts.wt. silicone oil of 5,000 to 100,000cSt in viscosity at 25°C.
