Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain electrically insulating composition suited for electric wires and sheaths by adding specific ratios of metallic hydroxide, carbon black and specific slip additive to specific ehtylene-vinyl-acetate copolymer or ethylene- alkyl-acrylate copolymer.

CONSTITUTION: Metallic hydroxide of 50W500 weight parts such as aluminum hydroxide treated with metallic salt of fatty acid for improving extrusion process property is added to base polymer of 100 pts.wt. of ethylene-alkyl-acrylate copolymer containing ≥20wt.% of alkyl-acrylate or of ethylene-vinyl-acetate copolymer containing ≥20wt.% of vinyl-acetate for improving oil resistance. Adding further ≥0.5wt.% of carbon black for improving flame retardant property and ≥0.5wt.% of hydroxylic slip additive such as ricinoleic acid, an electrically insulating composition having excellent roll processing property, tensile property and flame retardant property without producing toxic gas when burned is obtained.
