The bromine-containing flame retardant comprises a compound represented by general formula (1), wherein the end groups X and Y are represented by A or B shown in formula (2), and the flame retardant is the composition comprising compounds each comprising X=Y=A, X=A and Y=B or X=Y=B, the sum of the compounds is 100%, the bromine-containing flame retardant is obtained by a method selected from four methods including a production method reacting tetrabromobisphenol A, tribromophenol and epichlorohydrin in the presence of an alkali metal hydroxide, and polymerization degree n is an integer of 0<n<30.
