Abstract:

To obtain a flame-retardant polyester cloth having a chinchilla-tone appearance and soft touch which have been impossible to realize by conventional flame-retardant polyesters.

A polyester copolymer having a phosphorus atom content of 500-50,000 ppm and containing a phosphaphenanthrene ring in at least a part of the molecular chain is melt-spun and the obtained polyester multifilament yarn is used as at least a part of the objective cloth structure. The ratio of the float number of the warp and weft in a complete fabric texture is (1-7):1 and the maximum number of the continuing floats of the warp and/or weft is 3-7.
