Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame-retardant polypropylene fiber having both of excellent flame retardancy and high fiber strength, and hardly generating a noxious gas, and further to provide a method for producing the fiber.
SOLUTION: This flame-retardant polypropylene fiber is obtained by spinning a mixture obtained by mixing ≥0.5 wt.% phosphoric acid-based flame retardant, ≥0.4 wt.% NOR-type stabilizer of a HALS family, and ≥0.1 wt.% deodorant to provide an undrawn fiber, drawing the resultant undrawn fiber at 2-7 times draw ratio in 50-100°C range of a drawing temperature, and heat-setting the drawn fiber at 60-140°C. The obtained flame-retardant polypropylene fiber has both of the sufficient fiber strength and the excellent flame retardancy because the phosphoric acid-based flame retardant and the NOR-type stabilizer-of the HALS family in the above range are included therein.
