PURPOSE: To get a flame retardant resin composition for an electric wire and cable without whitening phenomena by suppressing the generation of heat at kneading and extrusion molding.

CONSTITUTION: 59-80 pts.wt. of ethylene ethyl acrylate, 10-30 pts.wt. of ultralow- density polyethylene or straight chain low-density polyethylene, and 1-20 pts.wt. of graft between the straight chain low-density polyethylene and maleic anhydride are adjusted within each range of pts.wt. Metallic hydroxide, the surface of which is treated by phosphoric acid ester, is charged by 50-200PHR to 100 of its adjusted one, and further lithium stearic acid or lithium hydrophosphoric acid is added by 0.1-5PHR. What is more, it is preferable to add a weatherability giving agent and an aging preventive agent to this composition. Hereby, the metallic salt of the above lithium stearate, etc., suppresses the generation of heat and prevents whitening phenomena.
