To provide a flame-retardant resin composition for electric wire or cable, having high flame retardancy and excellent heat resistance, hardly causing elution of a heavy metal compound and a phosphorus compound, and discharge of much erosive gas at disposal, and having excellent oil resistance and shrinkage characteristics at high temperature; and to provide the electric wire and cable.
The flame-retardant resin composition for the electric wire or cable is obtained by melting and kneading a composition comprising 100 pts.mass resin component (A) comprising 10-85 mass% ethylene copolymer and 90-15 mass% thermoplastic resin having a polyester and polyether type segment, 0.001-1.0 pt.mass organic peroxide and 50-300 pts.mass metal hydrate (B) a prescribed amount of which is a metal hydrate pre-treated with a silane coupling agent. The electric wire or cable is covered with the flame-retardant resin composition.
