To provide an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer which is excellent in mechanical properties such as processability and fracture point strength and maintains preferable physical properties that are the original characteristics of the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, and to provide a flame-retardant ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer composition using the same.

This ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer satisfying conditions (1) to (4). The flame-retardant ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer composition using the same. (1) A vinyl acetate content: 27 to 50 mass%. (2) MFR: 0.01 to 4 g/10 min. (3) Mw/Mn value measured with GPC: 2 to 12. (4) A molecular weight distribution: the rate of a molecular weight (M value-1) 5.170≤logM≤6.878 is 42.5 to 70 mass%, and the rate of a molecular weight (M value-2) 2.878≤logM≤4.455 is 5 to 15.5 mass%, wherein M is a molecular weight measured with GPC.
