Title:
FLAME-RETARDANT THREE-COMPONENT POLYMER BLEND
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH023446
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve bending strength, flame retardance, thermal properties, impact resistance and so on by blending specified polyphenylene ether and a vinyl aromatic compound/alkene compound block copolymer to polyetherimide.

CONSTITUTION: (A) polyetherimide, (B) polyphenylene ether represented by the formula (wherein b is 50 or greater; Y1, Y2, Y3 and Y4 are H, a halogen, a hydrocarbon, a halohydrocarbon that has carbon atoms lying between a halogen atom and a benzene ring, a halohydrocarbonoxy, or a hydrocarbonoxy) and (C) a block copolymer having a structure of a vinyl aromatic compound-an alkene compound- a vinyl aromatic compound, in which the molecular weight of central block is greater than the sum of the molecular weight of both terminal blocks (e.g. styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene block copolymer) are mixed. A flame-retardant three-component polymer obtained is suitably used as insulation, a protective film and so on.
