Title:
FLAME-RETARDED LUMBER AND MANUFACTURE THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01275005
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To contrive not to cause the lowering of flame retardancy by coming into contact with running water by a method wherein melt reaction product of urea and sulfamine acid, the mixing ratio of both of which is specified, is produced within lumber and, after that, heated at the specified temperature.

CONSTITUTION: Mixture of solid urea and solid sulfamine acid, the mixture ratio by mol of the former to the latter is 1-3:1, is heated up to 90-160°C so as to develop exothermic reaction under molten state in order to obtain a product. A lumber impregnated with said product by the amount which ranges from 5wt.% or more to less than or equal to its saturated impregnation point is heated at 130-220°C for 1-60min in order to obtain a flame-retarded lumber, the flame retardancy of which does not lower even when being brought into contact with water. If the amount of the melt reaction product is 5wt.% of less, enough flame retardancy is given to the lumber. Further, if the lumber impregnated with said product by 5wt.% or more is heated for period of time not longer than one minute, the resultant lumber, which is immersed in a large amount of running water and dried, does not show any flame retardancy.
