To obtain the subject composition having excellent flame reterding properties regardless of containing no halogens, antimony and red phosphorus and useful for insulation processes of electronic parts by using aluminum hydroxide produced by a precipitation method together with a coupling agent as a flame retardant.
This composition comprises 100 pts.wt. of (A) an epoxy resin, 50-200 pts.wt. of (B) a curing agent (preferably, methyltetrahydrophtharic anhydride, (C) a filler (preferably 0.5-30% of powdery silica having 5-30 μm average size, (D) a flame retardant and (E) a coupling agent (preferably 0.001-20 pts.wt. of a silane coupling agent) and contains aluminum hydroxide by precipitation method as the ingredient D. As the ingredient D, it is preferable to make the content 50-500 pts.wt., the average size 4-17 μm, rates of particles of ≤2 μm ≤10 wt.% and of ≤4 μm ≤20% and the electroconductivity ≤50 μS/cm.
