Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flange forming machine forming a final rectangular flange in a flared shape by means of one kind of a forming roll.
SOLUTION: A pipe fixing base 2 composed of a mandrel T inserted to a pipe P and a chuck 3 firmly holding the outside of the pipe together with the mandrel while remaining a margin of a flange portion is fixed in a bed 1. A dowel 14 is slidably supported along the axial center line of the mandrel from the inside of the margin of the flange portion to the outside of the margin of the flange portion and is also rotatably supported around the axial center line of the mandrel. The end of a shaft 18 of a cone forming roll 17 is supported on the dowel in an oscillation-free state through a plane that passes through the axial centerline of the mandrel. Thus, the cone forming roll provides a means pressing a conical roll 19 to the direction forming the margin of the flange and a means revolving the forming roll around the axial centerline of the mandrel. While a forming process forming the margin of the flange gets to a final forming stage, a control spring 36 always urging the dowel to the mandrel is arranged so that the forming roll can make necessary pressure force for forming the dowel loaded on the margin of the mandrel.
