To provide a flash control method of a digital camera capable of uniformly exposing under different setting by a user.
Index values corresponding to each of sensitivity values are determined first and then emission intensities corresponding to these sensitivity values are obtained, and each target luminance to be achieved after exposure is uniformly determined; thereby an energy table is created. A pre-emission is made at predetermined intensity for respective distances to obtain luminance values of corresponding pre-emission. Further, with respect to each distance, index values of corresponding main emission is obtained for maximum emission intensity based on the energy table. By setting uniform target luminance achieved after exposure, a pre-emission table is created. When imaging, corresponding main emission intensity is obtained based on the pre-emission luminance value and the pre-emission table.
