Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject fiber having parallel stripe voids, splittable by a low-pressure columnar flow punching treatment and having unique feeling by dissolving a specific polyalkylene glycol in an acrylic polymer, aging the solution and extruding the obtained dope through a flat spinning nozzle into a coagulation liquid.
CONSTITUTION: A spinning dope is prepared by dissolving an acrylic polymer containing ≥50wt.% of acrylonitrile (e.g. acrylonitrile-methyl acrylate-sodium methallylsulfonate copolymer) and 5-20wt.% (based on the acrylic polymer) of a polyalkylene glycol having a number-average molecular weight of 5,000-50,000 (e.g. polyethylene oxide-polypropylene oxide-polyethylene oxide block polyether glycol) and aging the solution for ≥4hr. The objective acrylic synthetic fiber can be produced by extruding the spinning dope into a coagulation liquid through a flat spinning nozzle. The obtained synthetic fiber has a (major axis/minor axis) ratio of ≥3 and a number of openings having indefinite shapes on the cross section. Each opening is composed of stripe voids formed in the fiber and directed parallel to the fiber length.
