Abstract:

PURPOSE: To render sufficient hydrophilicity by rapidly cooling a mixture prepared by blending polyvinylidene fluoride and a polymer having a specific composition in a specific ratio by cooling in a cooling liquid, from a prescribed temp. and simultaneously forming a flat or capillary membrane.

CONSTITUTION: A solution having a solidification point higher than room temp. and 10-40 wt.% concentration is prepared by uniformly mixing 70-98 wt.% polyvinylidene fluoride and 2-30 wt.% polymer consisting essentially of methyl and/or ethyl polyacrylate with a solvent or a nonsolvent and heating the mixture to a temp. above a miscibility gap. The solution is cooled in the cooling liquid from a temp. above the miscibility gap to form the flat or capillary membrane. The resultant flat or capillary membrane has 0.005-10 μm max. pore diameter and suitably used for immobilizing the biochemically active compound.
