PURPOSE: To reduce an abrasion of a tooth form as less as possible, and to extend a service life of a tool by bringing opposed rack type tools to a reciprocating motion in the direction opposite to each other, and forming only an addendum surface of a rack tooth form for rolling a columnar object to be worked, to a coarse surface, by blasting.

CONSTITUTION: A pair of opposed rack type tools 4 are brought to a reciprocating motion in the direction opposite to each other, a columnar object to be worked 5 is rolled, and a tooth form 34 is transferred. Only an addendum surface 1 of its rack tooth form 34 is formed to a coarse surface by blasting, so that a frictional resistance becomes high. By reducing a movement of a material of a tooth trough part of the object to be worked 5 and making a swell of a tooth crest part equal and good, a forming tooth form becomes a good shape, and an abrasion damage of the rack tooth form can be reduced as less as possible. Accordingly, a service life of tool is extended.
