To enhance a cooling effect of a flat field emitting illumination module, to raise the illumination efficiency of the illumination module, and reduce difficulty in packaging of the module.
The flat field emitting illumination module includes a top substrate and a bottom substrate provided with a plurality of cathodes and of electron emitters. Among them, the cathodes are positioned on the top surface of the bottom substrate, and the electron emitters are fixed to the cathodes. The anode is inserted between the top and bottom substrates and provided on its bottom surface with the plurality of grooves or openings. The electron emitters, after assembling of the flat field emitting illumination module, are housed in the grooves or the openings, and the flat field emitting illumination module is furthermore provided with an illumination layer positioned at the grooves or the inside surface of the openings.
