Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a lamp suitable for a back light of a liquid crystal panel by arranging a sheet of spacer glass between a support member of linear cathode and an anode.
CONSTITUTION: A sheet of frame glass is divided into upper and lower parts 3a, 3b, and a sheet of spacer glass 10 of predetermined width is sandwiched between them, while mesh electrodes 6a, 6b are adhered to both surfaces. The sheet of glass 10 is placed on a part other than an effective emission part between a strut 4 and a high voltage supply part 8, and discharging between them is prevented thereby. When voltage higher than in an electrode 6a on the side of a linear cathode 5 is applied to the electrode 6b on the side of an anode 7 of the two mesh electrodes, distribution of electric potential from the cathode 5 to the anode 7 becomes gentle, and the quantity of electrons passing the electrodes 6a, 6b can be easily controlled, facilitating light dimming. A lamp suitable for a backlight of liquid crystal panel used for a liquid crystal television or a liquid crystal projector and so on is thus provided.
