The flat-knitting machine is such that: a front-face cover 2 is attached to an attachment part 20a with its upper rim side serving as a holder 20; on both sides of the holder 20, a through-hole 20b is inserted with a bearing mechanism 25 containing a shaft member 36 that supports the holder 20 in a state enabling it to make a turning displacement around a common axial line 25a in the direction vertical to paper surface; a top-face travel body 30 is provided with a rotary shaft 31 on the rear end side; on both sides of the central axial line direction, each gear 32 with its outer circumference furnished with teeth 32a at given angle pitches is fixed; the upper parts of guide rails 10 supporting travel rollers 33 and 34 on the flank of the top-face travel body 30 are also furnished with notches to be engaged with the teeth 32a of the gear 32; thus, there is no need of using any component serving as a hinge structure for linking the holder 20 and the top-face travel body 30 to each other; therefore, this flat-knitting machine is simple in structure, having the cover enabling itself to be opened/closed smoothly, through cutting necessary parts unit.
