To prevent an electrode group from being expanded during drying treatment and improve a battery property in a flat nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having a wound electrode group.
A manufacturing method of the battery enclosing an electrode group in which a belt-like positive electrode, a belt-like negative electrode and a separator are wound and a nonaqueous electrolyte in a sealed electrode case can prevent the electrode group from being expanded at the time of drying by processing the electrode group in heating and compression to make it flat and then heating and drying. Thereby, the performance in assembly of the battery is improved and the battery property is also improved. At that time, if the air permeability of the separator included in the electrode group is set within a range of 2,000-5,000 sec, the manufactured battery becomes excellent in heavy load discharge property.
