PURPOSE: To improve the resolution of a flat type cathode-ray tube by connecting its rear electrode to the electrode board which is located on the rear electrode side out of two vertical electrostatic deflection electrode boards and applying vertical deflection signals on it.
CONSTITUTION: A target electrode 5 and a rear electrode 3 are arranged in a funnel section which forms a flat space and a phosphor screen 2 is applied to the target electrode 3. An electron gun 4 is housed in a neck section and vertical electrostatic deflection electrodes 9a and 9b are arranged in a region between the electron gun 4 and flat space and a horizontal electromagnetic deflection means is arranged outside a flat type cathode-ray tube. Also, the rear electrode 3 and the deflection electrode 9b on the rear electrode side are electrically connected together and vertical deflection signals VBW(VB-Vdef) are applied. Besides, predetermined voltages VH and VS are applied to the target electrode 5 and the deflection electrode 9a. As a result, the angle of incidence is dynamically corrected and almost uniform resolution can be obtained in the vertical scanning direction.
