Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject new derivative having 5α-reductase inhibitory activity useful for treating prostatic hypertrophy, common acne, seborrhoea, female hirsutism, prostatic carcinoma, male alopecia, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A flavonecarboxylic acid derivative of formula I (R is 6-9C branched chain alkyl, which may be replaced with cycloalkyl or 6-9C cycloalkyl, which may be replaced with lower alkyl) or its pharmaceutically permissible salt such as 6-(2", 4"-dimethyl-3"-pentyloxy) flavone-4'-carboxylic acid. The compound of formula I is obtained by alkylating a compound of formula II (R1 is alkyl) and successively hydrolyzing with an alkali. The compound of formula II is obtained by the process of the reaction formula.
