PURPOSE: To shorten the size of a base in lessening the length of a connecting part between a piston rod and a flexible wire rope by screwing a sleeve fitted in a base end of this flexible wire rope in a blind hole at a tip of the piston rod, and also screwing a lock nut in a sleeve part projected out of this blind hole.
CONSTITUTION: A lot of articulated members are rocked all at once in the specified direction and thereby a flexible arm is curved by expansion or contraction of a piston rod 24 of a cylinder 5 via a flexible wire rope 3. At this time, an axial blind hole 30 is made up at a tip of the piston rod 24, and a sleeve 32 is fitted in, and stuck to a base end of the flexible wire rope 3. This sleeve 32 is screwed in the blind hole 30, while a lock nut 34 is screwed in a portion of the sleeve 32 projected out of this blind hole 30, so the length of a connecting part between the piston rod 24 and the flexible wire rope 3 is shortened. Therefore, this cylinder 5 is able to lessen the length of a base installed on the inside.
