Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the duct for a payout device for an optical fiber which does not damages the optical fiber when a payout direction changes abruptly.
CONSTITUTION: The optical fiber 38 is guided from the payout device through the duct formed in the shape of a long and slender and spiral coil having a center hole by winding filament 36 of a spring-shaped material with elastic characteristics. The diameter of this coil may be fixed, but when its entrance part is formed into a comic part which is increased in diameter, the spiral motion of the optical fiber is effectively damped.
