Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a flexible tubular filter medium having pliability and stable filtration accuracy by forming a part of the central thread to be braided with a plaited thread with a thermoplastic resin having a lower m.p. than the plaited thread and fusing the intersection between the plaited thread and the central thread by the molten central thread.
CONSTITUTION: A thread made of a thermoplastic resin is used as the plaited thread, a thread made of a thermoplastic resin having a lower m.p. than the plaited thread is used as a part of the central thread, and the threads are braided into a cord. A core is then inserted into the cord, the cord is heated to a temp. higher than the m.p. of the central thread and lower than the m.p. of the plaited thread to melt the central thread, the molten central thread is then cooled and solidified to fuse the intersection between the plaited thread and central thread, and then the core is extracted. Consequently, the expansion and contraction of the flexible tubular filter medium are suppressed in the longitudinal direction, the dimensional stability is improved, nonalignement of meshes is prevented, and stabilized filtration performance is obtained.
