Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable optionally changing of the shape of a feeding path for feeding an optical fiber when measuring temperature within molten metal by a method wherein an optical fiber wound on a bobbin is fed by a feeding mechanism into the molten metal passing through a tip guide to transmit and guide heat radiation light in the molten metal to a radiation thermometer at the tip of the optical fiber.
SOLUTION: A flexible type optical fiber guide pipe 21 is used at a bent part of a feeding path 25 provided between a bobbin 1 and a tip guide 11. The flexible type optical fiber guide pipe 21 has at least single or double coil springs 31 and 33 and the inner coil spring 31 comprises a wire with a smaller diameter to reduce friction with the optical fiber. The outer coil spring 33 comprises a wire with a sufficiently large diameter, thereby developing sufficiently large rigidity.
