To assist a flight while always maintaining communication between an orbiting satellite communication device mounted on an aircraft and an orbiting satellite group.
A flight assisting device includes: an inertial navigation system 4 and a magnetic compass 5 which detect the attitude and azimuth of an aircraft body; a GPS communication device 3 which detects the position of the aircraft body; an orbiting satellite orbit arithmetic circuit 12 which detects an orbit of at least one orbiting satellite having a communication line established with the orbiting satellite communication device 2 in the orbiting satellite group; an antenna pattern that the orbiting satellite communication device 2 has and wherein a communicable range of an orbiting antenna is registered; a movable area calculating arithmetic circuit 14 which calculates a movable area wherein the aircraft can move while maintaining the communication line established between the orbiting satellite communication device 2 and orbiting satellite group based upon the orbit of the orbiting satellite, the antenna pattern, the position of the aircraft body, and the attitude and azimuth; and a display device 16 which reports the movable area to a pilot of the aircraft.
