PURPOSE: To reduce the coefficient of friction to a continuous thin film magnetic disk by forming an amorphous carbon layer on the surface of an air bearing slider part.
CONSTITUTION: The amorphous carbon layer is formed on the surface of an air bearing slider 24 of a magnetic head 2 consisting of an Mn-Zn ferrite. It is preferable that the thickness of this carbon layer is 50W200. It is preferable that a tray where the head 2 is set is put in a vacuum tank and the head 2 is heated at 100W175°C and the pressure of argon is controlled to 5W20mtoor to form the carbon layer by the sputtering method. Thus, the coefficient of friction to the continuous thin film magnetic disk provided with protective and lubricating films is reduced without a liquid lubricant.
