PURPOSE: To prevent an abrasion by securing oil films on the circular sliding surfaces of seal rings to compose a floating seal device.
CONSTITUTION: Circular sliding surfaces 1a and 2a to contact each other are formed at the peripheral side of the side surfaces opposing each other, of a pair of left side and right side seal rings 1 and 2. The seal ring 1 is held elastically to a casing 4 at the rotating side through an O ring 3A, while the seal ring 2 is held elastically to a seal ring 5 at the fixing side through an O ring 3B. Recesses on minute dimples are provided on the circular sliding surfaces 1a and 2a of the seal rings 1 and 2 by a shot peening process. By these recesses, oil films are secured on the circular sliding surfaces 1a and 2a.
