PURPOSE: To stabilize floating condition of a metal strip by connecting introducing ducts so that gas introducing holes to each chamber are alternately arranged to right side and left side toward advancing direction of the metal strip.
CONSTITUTION: The chambers 2aW2d are arranged at each zone of heating zone A, soaking zone B, C, cooling zone D. Multiple number of small holes for blowing gas are opened to the faced surface with the metal strip 1 in each chamber 2aW2d. The introducing ducts 3aW3d for introducing the gas from the introducing holes 4 are arranged to each chamber 2aW2d, and duct 3a is connected with the right side toward advancing direction of the strip 1. The duct 3b is connected with the left side and the duct 3c is connected with the right side and the duct 3d is connected with the left side. By sucking gas in the furnace with a blower 5, the gas is supplied under pressurizing to the introducing ducts 3aW3d. By this method, even if there is some deviation in the floating force to the width direction of the metal strip 1, the floating force at each chamber 2aW2d is served as counterbalance and snaking is effectively prevented.
